Hi, I'm Naomi James, RN

Naomi James, RN, is the founder and creator of Building Better Nurses, an organization dedicated to empowering nurses through education, professional development, and career advancement. As a Certified Academic Clinical Nurse Educator with more than fifteen years of experience in both clinical practice and academic settings, Naomi has taught, mentored, advised, and inspired hundreds of nurses throughout their professional journeys.

Driven by a passion for helping nurses thrive both personally and professionally, Naomi created Building Better Nurses to bridge the gap between clinical excellence, career growth, and well-being. Through continuing education programs, professional development training, and organizational consulting, she helps nurses and healthcare organizations build stronger, more confident, and more resilient nursing teams.

Today, Naomi continues to lead with purpose, educate with passion, and empower nurses to create meaningful careers while advancing the future of healthcare.

MY HEART STORY

From Heart Warrior to Healthcare Advocate

Born with Tetralogy of Fallot, a complex congenital heart condition, Naomi's healthcare journey began long before she became a nurse. She underwent her first open-heart surgery at just three months old and later faced a second open-heart surgery as an adult after the birth of her first child. These experiences shaped not only her perspective on healthcare, but also her passion for advocacy, education, and empowering others.

In 2023, Naomi was selected as a national ambassador for the American Heart Association's Go Red for Women® Class of Survivors, where she shared her story to raise awareness about congenital heart disease, women's heart health, and healthy pregnancies for women living with heart conditions. Through national media appearances, speaking engagements, and community outreach, she continues to use her voice to inspire, educate, and advocate for better health outcomes.

Today, her mission extends beyond nursing education. Naomi is dedicated to helping healthcare professionals, patients, and communities understand the importance of resilience, self-advocacy, and lifelong wellness—because every story has the power to create change.
